Our Mission

We want to see many become fully alive in vital union with Jesus by:

Making more and better disciples in missional community for the renewal of the world.

Our Beliefs

River Rock is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America, grounded in the theological heritage of the Protestant Reformation. While River Rock is relatively new, it is not new in her beliefs and practices. River Rock embraces the historic Christian faith expressed in the ecumenical creeds of the universal church - the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. River Rock has a distinctly Reformed Accent and holds to three confessions: The Belgic ConfessionCanons of Dort, and Heidelberg Catechism

Meet Pastor Josiah

Our Staff & COUNCIL

He moved to the Sacramento region in 2014 to work with The GreenHouse community center and fell in love with the area. Together, they love to play games, go on hikes, watch movies, travel, and check out new restaurants. They are eager to see more people come to know the beauty and joy of a life with Christ.

JEFF YU, ELDER

Jeff is originally from Manila, Philippines, is husband to Liza and father to Kaitlyn and Kristine. Jeff has been serving River Rock as a deacon and a Bible study leader. Jeff says, “My passions include sharing the gospel to the lost, encouraging fellow Christians who are experiencing life’s challenges, and discipling others so I may share the things that God has allowed me to understand from His Word, and the practical life applications of it.”   We believe one of Jeff’s gifts is encouragement. We have all been on the receiving end of it and are looking forward to seeing how God is going to continue to use this for the flourishing of our church.

Jeff longs to see God do the following: “By God’s grace, may we all at RRC continue to grow deep in our knowledge of the Scriptures so we may see both the meaning and the application that flow from it. And may God continue to help us to love each other more and build close relationships within our church while we celebrate our common bond which is the gift of freedom through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.”

BRIAN KYPTA, ELDER

Brian has been at River Rock since the early 2000’s. He is married to Janie and currently operates a private practice in psychotherapy. Brian’s vast experience helping people, many who are in crisis or need care, will be a major asset to the shepherding of our congregation. Brian mentioned in his interview with the elders that he often quietly prays for the clients who come to him for counsel. We believe this participation in the healing ministry of Jesus will be a tremendous asset to River Rock. Brian says his prayer is that he will “be mature, alert, responsive and serve in a useful way pleasing to God. I hope for spiritual growth for the River Rock congregation and for me personally. I pray for River Rock to be able to best serve God in whatever form that may be.”
